Obituary for James A Sundstrond Jr.

James A Sundstrond Jr.
James A. Sundstrond, Jr., of Marlton, NJ, passed away on October 5, 2018, age 85. Beloved husband of Elizabeth Laura (nee Palmer). Loving father of Patricia Anne Leone (Ernest), James A. Sundstrond, III (Kathleen), and Kathleen Marie Whittaker (J.D.). Dear brother of the late Dorothy Schwartz (Bill). Caring grandfather of Bryan Ernest Leone (Megan), Alyssa Marie Quinn (Matthew), Jonathan James Leone, James A. Sundstrond, IV, Melanie Rose Whittaker, and Casey Elizabeth Whittaker.
Grew up in Woodlynne NJ. Graduated from Collingswood High School in 1951 and served on the reunion committee thereafter. Served 2 years in the Army after the Korean War. Worked as an electrician at the Camden Ship Yard, Philadelphia Navy Yard and retired from Smith Kline in Philadelphia in 1986.
Life-long fan of Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies and Eagles. Highlight was undoubtedly seeing his Eagles win the Super Bowl earlier this year.
To sum up his priorities of life in five quick words: Laughter, Hardwork, Faith, Friendship and Family.
But always first and foremost was his family. He adored his six grandchildren. Was forever proud of his three children and their spouses. But the number one love of his life, after 62 years of faithful marriage, was always his wife Betty.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 10:00am to 11:30am at St. Joan of Arc Church, 100 Willow Bend, Marlton, NJ. The funeral mass will be at 11:30am at the church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in James’ name to Good Counsel, Inc. 116 Heulings Avenue, Riverside, NJ 08075 (for hope and homes for mothers and babies) or to St. Joan of Arc School at 101 Evans Rd, Marlton, NJ 08053 (for children whose parents need help with tuition).
